💰 How far does your money go
Argentina is not the bargain it was two years ago. Prices have roughly doubled. It is still cheap where it counts. A proper bife de chorizo with a glass of Malbec runs about €28 in a good parrilla, less than the same cut would cost you in a Madrid asador, and the portion is closer to two dinners. A bottle of decent Malbec off the shelf is €4. A flat white in a Palermo café is €2. A can of Quilmes from a kiosko is €2, a craft pint in a bar closer to €6, though happy hour halves it.

February is peak summer and it is heavy: 29°C days, 20°C nights, and humidity that sits on you. March is the sweet spot, high 20s and dry. By April the city turns to autumn, 20°C afternoons and the plane trees in Recoleta going yellow. May and June are proper jacket weather, 16°C by day and single digits after dark.

Buenos Aires runs late and rewards wandering.
Dinner at a parrilla — The whole point. Order the bife de chorizo, the provoleta and a bottle of Malbec, and do not turn up before 9pm.
San Telmo on a Sunday — The Defensa street market runs for a kilometre: antiques, leather, buskers and street tango, ending in the bars around Plaza Dorrego.
Recoleta cemetery — A city of marble mausoleums where Evita is buried. Free, strange and worth an hour.
A milonga — The real tango scene, where locals dance for themselves. Some halls run beginner classes before the floor fills around midnight.
