Winter in Calgary is all about the mountains, but the city has plenty too.
Ski Sunshine Village or Lake Louise: Two of Canada's best ski areas, both within two hours of the city, with dry snow and big views.
Johnston Canyon ice walk: Walk along catwalks in a frozen canyon to waterfalls turned into walls of ice.
Skating on Lake Louise: An outdoor rink on the frozen lake, under the glacier and in front of the Fairmont Château.
Studio Bell: Canada's National Music Centre, in a striking building in the East Village, with instruments you can play.
