Sal and Boa Vista run on beaches, wind and very little else, which is the point.
Praia de Santa Maria — Sal's postcard beach: white sand, warm shallows and a jetty lined with old fishing boats. Viana Desert — Rolling dunes inland from Sal, best seen by quad or buggy at sunset. Praia de Chaves — Boa Vista's stretch of white sand and turquoise water, with the Cabo Santa Maria shipwreck nearby. Turtle watching — Boa Vista's beaches are a major loggerhead nesting site between June and September, night tours run with local guides.
