💰 How Far Does Your Money Go?
Curaçao runs on the guilder, pegged to the US dollar, so prices barely move month to month. A pastechi from a snack truck is about €3. An Amstel Bright at a beach bar runs €3.50, less than a biertje on an Amsterdam terras. Keshi yena, spiced meat baked inside a shell of Dutch Edam, costs around €12 at a local spot. A fish roti near Punda market is €9. A full dinner with a couple of beers lands near €25.

September sits in Curaçao's low season, and the island stays the quiet corner of the Caribbean for it. Days run to 32°C, nights hold near 27°C, and the sea sits around 29°C. Humidity is high, close to 77%, and the odd short shower blows through in the afternoon before clearing. Curaçao lies below the main hurricane belt, so the storms that hit islands further north mostly miss it.

A UNESCO harbour town on one side, more than 70 shore dive sites on the other.
Shore snorkelling at the Tugboat and Directeursbaai. Walk in from the beach and you are over coral and turtles within minutes, no boat required.
Klein Curaçao by catamaran. A two-hour sail to an uninhabited sandbank with a lighthouse, white sand and clear water. A full day out.
Willemstad on foot. Cross the Queen Emma pontoon bridge from Otrobanda to Punda, past the pastel Handelskade waterfront and the floating market.
Lunch at Plasa Bieu. The old covered market, where cooks serve plates of stoba, funchi and fried fish at shared tables.
