A cheese pastechi from a neighbourhood snack costs around €2, less than a koffie verkeerd in Amsterdam. An Amstel Bright at a local bar is about €3, cheaper than a biertje on a terras at home. Swim with turtles at Playa Grandi. Green sea turtles feed by the old fishing pier, often within metres of the shore.
Hato Caves. Limestone chambers with natural pools, ancient rock drawings and a colony of fruit bats, ten minutes from the airport.
Shete Boka National Park. Waves crash into seven rocky inlets on the wild north coast, where sea turtles come ashore to nest.
Landhuis Chobolobo. The 19th-century mansion where the original Blue Curaçao liqueur is still made, with a tour and a tasting.
