💰 How Far Does Your Money Go?
A full menu del dia in Lima, soup, a main and a drink, runs about S/.15, roughly €4. Compare that to a menu del dia back in Madrid at €13-15 and you're eating for a third of the price. A cocktail in a Miraflores bar comes in around S/.26, about €7, similar to a cana round with tapas on a Madrid terrace, except here it's a full pisco sour.
☀️ The Weather
December through March is Lima's summer, and it shows. Expect 23-25°C most days, full sun and barely a cloud, a world away from the grey coastal fog that covers the city the rest of the year. Evenings stay warm too, rarely dropping below 18°C, so terrace dinners by the coast in Miraflores or Barranco are the default, not the exception.
🏨 Where to Stay

🎯 What to Do
Lima is one of the world's great food cities, and it doesn't hide it.
Paragliding over Miraflores — Launch from the clifftop park and glide above the Malecon and the Pacific.
Historic Centre of Lima — UNESCO-listed Plaza Mayor, the Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace, all walkable in an afternoon.
Mercado de Surquillo food tour — Local markets, ceviche stalls and produce you won't find outside South America.
Barranco by night — Street art, live music and pisco bars in Lima's bohemian district.
🗺️ Where to Go From Here
Lima is also the gateway to the rest of Peru.
Cusco and Machu Picchu — The Inca capital and the citadel itself, about 1.5 hours by domestic flight.
Paracas and the Ballestas Islands — Coastal reserve and wildlife boat trips, roughly 3.5 hours by road.
Huacachina — A desert oasis for sandboarding and dune buggies, about 4 hours south of Lima.
Arequipa — Peru's White City beneath a volcano, an hour away by air.
€688 return, non-stop to Peru, doesn't come around often on this route. Get your dates in before Plus Ultra's fares climb back up.
