💰 How far does your money go?
The US is not Spain, and the prices remind you of that quickly. A beer at a New York bar runs $10–$12. A pizza slice on the street costs around $5. In Miami, a full plate of rice, beans and ropa vieja in Little Havana comes to about $13. Boston is the most manageable of the three: a budget day including accommodation and food runs around €55–€65. A sit-down dinner across all three cities will cost more than a menú del día back home. Plan for it.
☀️ The weather
September through March covers a wide range. Miami wins on weather across all of it: temperatures hold at 24–28°C and the humidity that makes summer unbearable has settled down. In New York, September and October are exceptional: warm days, golden light, and the kind of autumn that barely exists in Barcelona. By December, expect proper cold. Boston follows the same pattern, with some of the most dramatic fall foliage in the US from late September through October, then a genuine winter from December onwards.
🏙️ Pick your city
Boston, from €249 The cheapest option and the easiest to underestimate. History at every corner, the Freedom Trail through 16 landmarks, whale watching off the coast, and a craft beer culture that takes the Sam Adams name very seriously. More manageable on budget than New York or Miami.
New York, from €289 Manhattan from the top of One Vanderbilt. Brooklyn for the food. The Highline on a clear afternoon. The energy of the place is real and does not disappoint. Bring more budget than you think you will need.
Miami, from €308 Art Deco, the Wynwood murals, Cuban food in Little Havana, and a beach that earns its reputation. The best weather of the three during this travel window. Nightlife that starts late and ends later.

🎯 What to do
New York
SUMMIT One Vanderbilt: Views of Manhattan from 427 metres, with immersive art installations throughout. Better than the Empire State Building and less crowded.
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island tour: The full experience takes around four hours by ferry. Book tickets well in advance.
Brooklyn food crawl: Williamsburg to Bushwick via Smorgasburg or Dekalb Market Hall. The best eating in New York is not in Manhattan.
Brooklyn Bridge walk: Free, takes 30 minutes each way, and the views from the middle are exactly what you imagine.
Miami
Wynwood Walls: The world's largest outdoor street art museum. Free to walk the neighbourhood; the main gallery costs around $12.
Everglades airboat tour: Real alligators, real wetlands, 30 minutes from downtown Miami. One of the great "only here" experiences in the US.
Little Havana food tour: Calle Ocho, croquetas, Cuban coffee, dominoes at Maximo Gomez Park. More character than South Beach.
Day trip to Key West: Three hours south on the Overseas Highway. One of the most singular drives in America.
Boston
Freedom Trail: A 4km walking route connecting 16 historic sites. Start at Boston Common, end at Bunker Hill Monument. Free to do alone.
Sam Adams brewery tour: $10 for the signature tour, which includes proper tastings. One of the more enjoyable paid activities in the city.
Whale watching cruise: Humpback and finback whales feed just offshore. Season runs through October. From $86.
Beacon Hill: Cobblestones, gas lamps, and Federal-style townhouses. The neighbourhood that looks most like a film set, except it is real.
