Phuket sits in the Andaman Sea, 5,400 miles from Gatwick. The beaches are white, the water is warm, and a cold Singha on the beach costs under £3. Norse Atlantic now flies there non-stop, and returns start at £539.

🎯 What to do
Phuket is a launching pad as much as a destination.
Phang Nga Bay: Sea kayak through towering limestone karsts and into hidden sea caves. One of the most dramatic landscapes in Southeast Asia.
Big Buddha: A 45-metre white marble statue on Nakkerd Hill, reopened after restoration. Free entry. Views over Chalong Bay that stretch to the horizon.
Phuket Old Town and night markets: Sino-Portuguese shophouses, street food stalls and vendors selling everything from mango sticky rice to fresh coconuts. Go at dusk.
Thai cooking class: Learn to make Tom Kha Gai, green curry or Pad Thai in a heritage kitchen. Worth a half day easily.
🗺️ Where to go from here
Phuket is the gateway to the best of the Andaman coast.
Phi Phi Islands: Dramatic limestone cliffs, clear water and Maya Bay. 1.5 hours by ferry. Go early to beat the crowds.
Krabi and Railay Beach: Accessible only by boat, Railay has no roads. Just cliffs, beaches and rock climbers. 1.5 hours by ferry from Phuket.
Koh Lanta: Quieter, less developed and better for longer stays. 2 hours by ferry via Krabi.
Koh Yao Noi: A small island in the middle of Phang Nga Bay. Rice paddies, buffalo and almost no tourists. 30 minutes by speedboat from Bang Rong Pier.
Norse Atlantic doesn't fly non-stop to Phuket from London every day. These dates at £539 won't last long.
