💰 How far does your money go?
US cities have a reputation for being expensive — and in some ways they are. But it depends where you eat and what you do.
In Boston, a craft beer in a local pub runs about $8 and a bowl of clam chowder at Quincy Market goes for around $12. Spend smart and a decent day out costs less than you might expect.
New York is the most expensive of the three. A beer at a Manhattan bar will set you back $9–12, and dinner for two at a mid-range restaurant easily hits $80 before tip. Counter that with free access to Central Park, free museum entry one day a week, and $3 pizza slices in almost every neighbourhood.
Miami is the wildcard. Cocktails on South Beach can cost $25 or more. But in Little Havana, a full Cuban lunch goes for $14 and a mojito for $8. Know the difference between Ocean Drive and Calle 8 and you will spend a lot less.
☀️ The weather
Boston in September is warm and golden — highs around 24°C with clear skies and fall colour starting to creep in. By October it drops to 17°C and feels unmistakably autumnal. Bring a layer.
New York in September hits 25–28°C, some of the best weather the city sees all year. By November it is down to 5–10°C and can feel cold fast, but autumn in the city is genuinely worth it.
Miami barely blinks at the calendar. October sits at 29°C with warm nights around 23°C. November cools slightly to 25–28°C — still t-shirt weather, still beach-ready.

🎯 What to do
Boston
The Freedom Trail — A 2.5-mile walk through 16 of the most important sites in American history. Free, self-guided, and genuinely fascinating for anyone new to the city.
Fenway Park tour — The oldest Major League Baseball stadium in the US. Even without a game on, a behind-the-scenes tour of Fenway is worth the hour.
North End food walk — Boston's oldest neighbourhood and home to the best Italian food outside of Italy. Mike's Pastry on Hanover Street for the cannoli. Non-negotiable.
Boston Tea Party Museum — Interactive and surprisingly gripping. You vote on whether to dump the tea. The historical recreations make it one of the better museum experiences in the city.
New York
Central Park — 341 hectares in the middle of Manhattan. Free to enter, impossible to get bored in.
Brooklyn Bridge walk — Start in Brooklyn, walk across, end up in Lower Manhattan. One of those experiences that actually lives up to the hype.
MoMA — The Museum of Modern Art in Midtown has works by Picasso, Warhol and Kahlo across eleven floors. Give it three hours minimum.
A night in the East Village — Dense with bars, live music venues and restaurants across every price range. The best introduction to neighbourhood New York that tourists rarely find.
Miami
South Beach — Ocean Drive at sunset, Art Deco architecture, people-watching from a cafe on the street. More spectacle than beach sometimes, but unmissable.
Little Havana — Domino Park, Cuban coffee at a ventanita window, live music on Calle 8 on Friday nights. The part of Miami most visitors skip and the part most worth seeing.
Wynwood Walls — An open-air museum of street art in a converted warehouse district. Free entry to the outdoor sections. One of the best urban art spaces in the world.
Everglades National Park — Ninety minutes from Miami by car. Airboat rides through sawgrass marshes, alligators in the water, and a landscape that feels like another planet.
These dates won't last at this price. Level's non-stop service from Barcelona is reliable and well-priced — but €249 return to the US goes fast. Pick your city, pick your dates, and check availability before someone else does.
