Punta Cana in late October is 30°C with a 28°C sea. The UK in late October is 12°C and getting dark by five. TUI flies non-stop from Birmingham, London Gatwick and Manchester for £345 return. A fare like this for a non-stop Caribbean flight doesn't come up often.

💰 How far does your money go?
Outside the resorts, a Presidente beer costs around £3.70. A full plate of rice, beans and meat at a local spot runs to about £6, less than a meal deal and a pint back home. Most people go all-inclusive in Punta Cana, which makes it even simpler: one price covers the rum cocktails by the pool and the midnight buffet.
☀️ The weather
October and November sit at 29–30°C by day and 24°C at night. The sea stays at around 28°C. This is the tail end of the rainy season, so expect short, heavy afternoon showers rather than washed-out days. November is noticeably drier than October and marks the start of the high season.
🏨 Where to stay
Punta Cana runs almost entirely on all-inclusive resorts. The question is which one fits your budget.
Impressive Punta Cana - All Inclusive · 8.0/10 · From £95/night A solid all-inclusive on Playa Arena Gorda with multiple pools and direct beach access. The entry point for a proper resort holiday without overpaying.
Majestic Elegance Punta Cana · 8.3/10 · From £140/night Right on Bávaro Beach, with better restaurants and more attentive service. A genuine step up from the basic all-inclusive crowd.
Majestic Mirage Punta Cana · 9.2/10 · From £220/night All-suite luxury on one of the best stretches of Bávaro Beach. Sharp service, good food and the benchmark for Punta Cana.
🎯 What to do
Punta Cana is built for beach holidays, but there is more to it than the sun lounger.
Saona Island. A protected island reached by catamaran. Powder-white sand, no cars and no resorts. The most popular day trip in the country, and it earns it.
Scape Park at Cap Cana. Zip lines, ATV trails, caves and a natural cenote you can swim in. The best half-day break from the beach.
Macao Beach. One of the few beaches not absorbed by the resort strip. Open to the public, with bigger waves and far fewer sun loungers.
Coco Bongo. Live acts, acrobatics and an open bar until the early hours. Loud, chaotic and worth doing once.
🗺️ Where to go from here
Punta Cana is on the east coast. The rest of the island is worth the effort.
Santo Domingo. Around three hours by road. The oldest European city in the Americas, with a Unesco-listed colonial zone and a serious food scene.
Samaná Peninsula. Around three hours north. Dramatic coastline, whale watching from January and very little resort development.
Jarabacoa. Around four hours inland. Mountain waterfalls, cooler air and rafting on the Yaque del Norte river.
£345. Non-stop. The Caribbean before the UK winter really starts. Check dates before they go.
