Rome in June is 28°C, beautiful, and overrun with tourists. Seoul in June is something else entirely: a city of 10 million where a full Korean BBQ dinner costs €12, the subway runs every two minutes, and the palaces are older than anything Europe has to offer. Tway flies you there non-stop from €640.

☀️ The weather
Rome in June is 27°C: pleasant before noon, oppressive by afternoon. Seoul in June sits at 25°C with high humidity and showers that pass quickly. Early July tips into monsoon season: warm, wet afternoons, but evenings cool off and the city keeps going. Come in June for the better weather. Come in July for the lower prices.

🎯 What to do
Seoul mixes 600-year-old palaces with hypermodern everything. Here is where to start.
Gyeongbokgung Palace: The largest of Seoul's five royal palaces. Built in 1395, still standing, and free entry on the first Sunday of each month. Come early for the changing of the guard.
Gwangjang Market: Seoul's oldest covered market. Bindaetteok pancakes, mayak gimbap, and raw beef bibimbap for under €5 a plate. One of the best street food experiences in Asia.
Bukchon Hanok Village: 600-year-old traditional houses spread across a hillside between two palaces. Teahouses, galleries, and the best surviving slice of old Seoul.
DMZ tour: The demilitarised zone between North and South Korea, 50km from Seoul. Sobering, surreal, and completely unlike anything else in the world. Book through a licensed operator in advance.
🗺️ Where to go from here
South Korea is compact and easy to navigate. Seoul makes an ideal base.
Busan: 2.5 hours by KTX high-speed train. South Korea's second city, with beaches, seafood markets, and the colourful Gamcheon Culture Village.
Gyeongju: 2 hours by KTX. The ancient Silla capital, full of burial mounds, temples, and UNESCO World Heritage sites. One of the most underrated stops in the country.
Jeju Island: 1-hour domestic flight from Seoul. Volcanic landscapes, coastal trails, black lava beaches, and a completely different pace from the mainland.
At €640 non-stop from Rome, this does not come around often. Check dates and book.
