💰 How Far Does Your Money Go?

A full Dominican lunch, rice, beans, chicken and a fresh juice, costs around €7. That is less than a menú del día in Barcelona. A mojito on the beach comes in at €3-4, cheaper than a gin tonic on a terrace back home, and a night out in Bávaro rarely clears €20 a head.

☀️ The Weather

Punta Cana sits at 30°C by day and 27°C at night in September. It is the wet season, so expect short, heavy downpours most afternoons followed by sun again within the hour. Humidity is high, but the sea stays warm enough to swim in whatever the sky is doing.

🏨 Where to Stay

Three ways to base yourself on the Caribbean coast.

Whala!Bávaro — 6.8/10 · From €78/night Simple all-inclusive right on Bávaro beach, good if the room is just where you sleep between swims.

Majestic Elegance Punta Cana — 8.3/10 · From €182/night A proper all-inclusive resort with several pools and a long stretch of beach, solid for couples or groups.

Excellence Punta Cana — 9.2/10 · From €305/night Adults-only, all-inclusive, consistently rated the top luxury stay in the area.

🎯 What to Do

Beach days aside, there is plenty to fill the rest.

Saona Island catamaran day trip — A boat out to a postcard island, swimming stops and a buffet lunch included.

Hoyo Azul cenote — A bright blue natural pool tucked into the jungle at Scape Park, worth the short hike in.

Zip-line canopy tour — Runs above the treetops just outside Punta Cana, a quick adrenaline hit between beach days.

Ojos Indígenas eco-park — A trail through the forest connecting a dozen freshwater lagoons, quieter than the resort pools.

🗺️ Where to Go From Here

Punta Cana also works as a base for the rest of the Dominican Republic.

Santo Domingo — The colonial old town, the oldest in the Americas, about two and a half hours by road.

Samaná — Whale watching in season and some of the country's best beaches, roughly three hours away.

Isla Catalina — A smaller, quieter island stop, reachable by boat from La Romana.

€208 one-way to the Caribbean is not a price that hangs around. Lock in your date before Iberojet's cheapest seats go.
