💰 How Far Does Your Money Go?
A plate at a local warung costs as little as £0.80–£1.90, and a cold Bintang beer runs about £1.60. In London, that's less than half a pint. A three-course dinner with cocktails at a beach club will still only set you back £15–£20 a head, about what you'd pay for a starter alone in Soho.
☀️ The Weather
Bali sits in the tail end of its dry season through September and October. Expect 31°C by day, dropping to 22–23°C at night, with humidity around 80% and just a handful of rainy days a month. Bring sun cream, not an umbrella.
🏨 Where to Stay
Three options depending on how much you want to spend once you land.
FRii Bali Echo Beach — 8.4/10 · From £28/night Simple, clean and a five-minute walk from Canggu's surf breaks.
Komaneka at Bisma — 8.9/10 · From £110/night Jungle-facing villas in Ubud, quiet enough to actually switch off.
Four Seasons Resort Bali at Sayan — 9.3/10 · From £420/night Suites built into the valley wall above the Ayung River. Once-in-a-lifetime territory.
🎯 What to Do
Bali moves between jungle, temple and beach club within the same afternoon.
Sunrise hike up Mount Batur — A 2am start rewards you with the whole island spread out beneath the clouds. Sunset at Uluwatu Temple — Cliff-edge views and a Kecak fire dance as the sky turns orange. Canggu beach clubs — Old Man's for sunset beers, Finns for the pool and DJ sets after dark. Sanur Night Market — Grilled satay, fresh coconuts and the best £2 dinner you'll have all year.
🗺️ Where to Go From Here
Bali is as much a launchpad as it is a destination.
Nusa Penida — Dramatic clifftop views at Kelingking Beach, a 45-minute fast boat from Sanur. Nusa Lembongan — Quieter sister island, good for snorkelling and slow mornings. Gili Air — No cars, no motorbikes, just bikes and turquoise water, reachable via Padang Bai. Lombok — Bigger beaches and fewer crowds, a short flight or ferry away.
£341 for a return flight to the other side of the world doesn't come around often. Book it before October fills up.
