💰 How far does your money go?
A plate at a local warung costs as little as £1.60, and a cold Bintang beer on the beach runs about £1.60 too, roughly a third of what you'd pay for a pint in Zone 1. A proper sit-down dinner for two, with drinks, comes to around £18. A fresh coconut on the sand costs less than a coffee back home.
☀️ The Weather
Bali stays warm and tropical right through the travel window. September and October bring highs of 31°C and lows of 25°C, with mostly dry days. By November the wet season starts to creep in, still 30°C by day and 24°C at night, just with a higher chance of an afternoon downpour. Pack sun cream either way.
🏨 Where to Stay
Three ways to base yourself in Bali, from beach to jungle.
Grand Hyatt Bali : 8.7/10 · From £75/night A big beachfront resort in Nusa Dua with sprawling pools and gardens, built for families who want everything on site.
Conrad Bali : 8.9/10 · From £110/night Spacious rooms and a relaxing lagoon pool right on the sand, a solid mid-range pick with a proper beach.
The Apurva Kempinski Bali : 9.3/10 · From £280/night An ultra-luxury cliffside resort with grand architecture and infinity pools, for the trip where budget stops being the point.
🎯 What to Do
Bali runs on rice fields by day and beach clubs by night.
Mount Batur sunrise hike : A pre-dawn climb rewarded with a sunrise over the crater and a packed breakfast at the top.
Uluwatu Temple and cliffs : Clifftop temple views over the Indian Ocean, best at sunset with a Kecak fire dance thrown in.
Nusa Penida day trip : Kelingking Beach, Broken Beach and Manta Point in one full day, by fast boat from Sanur.
Ubud rice terraces and jungle swing : The Tegallalang terraces at their greenest, with a jungle swing over the valley for the photo everyone takes anyway.
🗺️ Where to Go From Here
Bali is also the easiest jumping-off point for the rest of Indonesia.
Nusa Penida : Rugged cliffs, turquoise coves and manta rays, about 45 minutes by fast boat from Sanur.
Gili Islands : Three tiny car-free islands with white sand and coral reefs, reachable via Padang Bai.
Lombok : Pink-tinged beaches and Sasak culture, a short flight or longer boat ride east of Bali.
Yogyakarta : Borobudur and Prambanan temples on Java, about 1.5 hours by domestic flight.
Seats at £456 won't sit around once the dry season crowd catches on. Lock in the dates, sort the rest later.
