Bangkok in late October and November: dry season arriving, the city humming, and your euros going a long way.
Late October is when Bangkok sheds the last of the monsoon. By November, the dry season is properly underway: clear skies, a breeze that actually works, and temperatures that make exploring the city genuinely enjoyable. Finnair fly you there from Munich for €493 return, via Helsinki.

💰 How far does your money go?
A plate of Pad Thai at a street stall: around €1.70. A cold Singha beer: €1.60. A full meal with drinks at a local restaurant comes in under €8. Bangkok is not cheap to fly to, but once you land, €50 a day covers food, drinks, and most activities without real compromise. That is roughly what a Masskrug costs at a Munich beer garden.
☀️ The weather
Late October still catches the tail of the monsoon, with temperatures between 24°C and 32°C and occasional afternoon showers. November changes things. The dry season settles in, temperatures sit between 23°C and 31°C, humidity drops noticeably, and you can expect around 8 hours of sunshine a day with very little rain. It is, by most accounts, the best time to be in Bangkok.

🎯 What to do
Bangkok overwhelms at first. Then it becomes addictive.
Grand Palace and Wat Pho — The two most important sites in Bangkok, five minutes' walk apart. The Grand Palace is a genuine spectacle; Wat Pho next door houses the 46-metre reclining Buddha and some of the best traditional massage in the city.
Muay Thai at Rajadamnern Stadium — The oldest boxing venue in Bangkok, with bouts running several nights a week. Nothing quite like it.
Yaowarat (Chinatown) after dark — Bangkok's Chinatown becomes one of the best street food scenes in Southeast Asia after sunset. Roasted duck, crab fried rice, mango sticky rice. Follow your nose.
Mahanakhon SkyWalk — Glass-floored observation deck on the 78th floor, with unobstructed views across the city in every direction. Go at sunset.
🗺️ Where to go from here
Bangkok is Thailand's main gateway, and most of the country's best destinations are within an easy flight of Don Mueang airport.
Chiang Mai — 1-hour domestic flight. Thailand's northern cultural capital, with night markets, temple trails, and jungle treks into the mountains.
Koh Samui — 1.5-hour flight. The most developed island in the Gulf of Thailand, with long beaches and solid infrastructure that makes getting around easy.
Phuket — 1.5-hour flight. Thailand's largest island and the base for Phi Phi Islands day trips, with a serious food scene.
Ayutthaya — 1.5 hours by train. The former capital, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site of ruined temples and stone Buddhas. An easy day trip from Bangkok.
Koh Tao — Around 7 hours by bus and ferry. One of the most affordable places in the world to get your diving certificate.
€493 for two weeks in one of Southeast Asia's most compelling cities. Finnair's Helsinki connection is well-timed and dates run well into November. Check availability before they disappear.
