☀️ The weather
November brings 29–31°C during the day, with warm evenings around 21°C. Rainfall is brief: short tropical showers that clear quickly, usually in the afternoon. December is even drier, around 27°C with calm seas and reliably clear skies. Hurricane season officially ends on 30 November, and activity is extremely rare by mid-month.

🎯 What to do
Cancun mixes Caribbean beaches with some of the most important Maya history in the world.
Playa Delfines — The widest public beach in Cancun. Electric-blue Caribbean water, no resort gates, completely free. Best at sunrise.
San Miguelito and Museo Maya de Cancun — A real Maya archaeological site inside the Hotel Zone, with 16 restored structures and a museum holding over 350 artefacts including jade and obsidian burial remains.
MUSA underwater museum — Over 500 life-size statues submerged 3–8 metres in the Caribbean Sea, slowly colonised by coral. Accessible by snorkel or glass-bottom boat.
Mercado 28 — Where locals eat: fresh seafood, cochinita pibil, cold beer, without tourist pricing. Loud, cheap, and worth the detour.
🗺️ Where to go from here
Cancun is a gateway. The Yucatan Peninsula stretches out with some of the most varied coastline and archaeology in Mexico.
Isla Mujeres — A car-free Caribbean island, 30 minutes by ferry from Puerto Juarez. Turquoise lagoons and good snorkelling at Punta Sur.
Playa del Carmen — 1 hour south by ADO bus (~€4). Lively beach town with cenote access and a younger nightlife scene.
Tulum — Around 2 hours south by bus. Clifftop Maya ruins with a direct sea view, world-famous cenotes, and a strong restaurant scene.
Isla Holbox — A remote, car-free island 2.5 hours north. Bioluminescent water, no resorts, and one of the most peaceful beaches in Mexico.
Cozumel — 1 hour to Playa del Carmen by bus, then 40 minutes by ferry. One of the top five diving destinations in the world, with exceptional coral reef visibility.
