The catch is a long layover in Shanghai Pudong: about 15 hours on the way out and 20 on the way back. China's visa-free transit rules let many European passport holders leave the airport, so you can see the Bund and eat soup dumplings on the way. Check the current rules for your nationality before booking.
💰 How far does your money go?
A Belgian beer on a café terrace in Brussels costs €4-5. In Saigon, a beer at a bar is about 40,000 dong (€1.40), and a glass of street-side draught can cost a quarter of that. A bánh mì from a cart is about €0.55, a bowl of phở at a street café around €1.80, and a 5 km Grab bike ride €1.50-2. A cone of frites at home pays for lunch and dinner here.
☀️ The Weather
The dry season in Ho Chi Minh City runs from December to April. Expect highs of 31-33°C and nights around 22-24°C. Late November can still bring a short tropical downpour, but by January the skies are clear and the humidity drops.
