💰 How Far Does Your Money Go?
A bowl of ramen at a Tokyo chain like Ichiran costs around £5, less than a pint in most London pubs. In Osaka, a full serving of takoyaki or okonomiyaki from a street stall runs about £3, and a proper sit-down dinner rarely tops £15 a head. Convenience store beer is under £2. Depending on when you fly, Japan shifts a lot. Come in September or October and Tokyo and Osaka sit in the low-to-mid 20s°C, dry and comfortable. By November, Tokyo cools to highs of 18°C and lows of 10°C, crisp autumn air with the leaves turning. December and January bring the coldest stretch, highs around 8°C and lows dipping close to freezing, but skies are mostly clear and dry, no grey drizzle. March brings cherry blossom season, with temperatures climbing back into the mid-teens. By May and June you're back to warm days in the low-to-mid 20s°C, before the humidity of summer sets in.
