São Paulo doesn't sell itself on postcards. It's a megacity of 22 million people with the best food scene in South America, one of the world's great street art cultures, and prices that make a night out in Mitte feel painful in retrospect. Iberia is flying there from Berlin return for under €600.

🎯 What to do
São Paulo is not a city of landmarks. It's a city of neighbourhoods, noise, and astonishing food.
Ibirapuera Park — São Paulo's answer to Central Park, designed by Roberto Burle Marx. Jog, rent a bike, or just sit by the lake and watch the city breathe.
Mercado Municipal (Mercadão) — A 1933 covered market with 72 stained-glass windows and 300 stalls. Come for the mortadella sandwich. Stay for the spectacle.
Batman Alley (Beco do Batman) — A narrow backstreet in Vila Madalena covered floor-to-ceiling in street art. Best on a Sunday when craft beer bars and food stalls fill the neighbourhood.
Liberdade — São Paulo has the largest Japanese community outside Japan, and Liberdade is its beating heart. Ramen, sushi-grade fish markets, and taiyaki on the street.
🗺️ Where to go from here
São Paulo is one of the best-connected cities in South America. You're never far from something extraordinary.
Rio de Janeiro — 1-hour flight or 6-hour bus. Copacabana, Ipanema, Christ the Redeemer. The classic Brazil experience, right on your doorstep.
Iguazu Falls — 1.5-hour flight to Foz do Iguaçu. Standing next to 275 cascades dropping 80 metres is not something you easily forget.
Ilhabela — 2-hour drive from the city. An island off the Atlantic coast with over 40 beaches, waterfalls, and rainforest trails. Very few tourists by Brazilian standards.
Campos do Jordão — 2-hour drive into the mountains. Alpine architecture, pine forests, and craft beer. Brazilians call it the Swiss Alps. That's generous, but it's genuinely beautiful.
Flights to Brazil under €600 from Berlin are not common. Check availability and set aside March.
