☀️ The Weather
Eindhoven in July averages 23°C and sees rain on 15 out of 31 days. That is a Dutch summer. All three destinations sit between 28°C and 32°C through July and August, with almost zero rainfall. The sea off Ibiza and Mallorca is 26°C. The Costa Dorada's beaches are the same. The gap is not subtle.
💰 How Far Does Your Money Go?
A beer on an Eindhoven terrace costs around €4.50. In Salou or Palma, local bars charge €3. Even in Ibiza — which has a reputation — skip the beach clubs and you're eating a three-course menú del día for €15, wine included. That covers the same ground as a pub lunch back home.

Ibiza is not just clubs. Dalt Vila is a UNESCO-listed walled city with a Phoenician-era cathedral and views across the whole island. Es Vedrà — the dramatic sea rock off the southwest coast — appears at sunset like something from another world. And Formentera, 30 minutes by boat, has some of the clearest water in Europe.

Mallorca has everything: a Gothic cathedral in Palma, Arab baths, UNESCO-listed Tramuntana mountains, hidden northeast coves, and a vintage train through the hills. It does not feel like a budget destination, but at €62 from Eindhoven it is.

Reus airport drops you 9 km from Salou and 15 km from Tarragona. Salou is pure summer: sand, sea, and no pretensions. Tarragona is the contrast — a Roman provincial capital with a 2,000-year-old amphitheatre on the sea and a UNESCO archaeological site. PortAventura is right on the doorstep.
