Frankfurt has some of the highest living costs in Germany. Seoul, one of the most culturally dense cities in Asia, runs at roughly 44% of that. A local beer is under €3. A proper sit-down meal of bibimbap or Korean fried chicken costs around €6. Tway Air is flying non-stop between the two cities this June from €648 return.

💰 How far does your money go?

A local beer at a Seoul bar runs around €2.50 — half what you'd pay at an Apfelwein stand in Sachsenhausen. A bowl of Korean army stew (budae jjigae), a plate of japchae or a full bibimbap from a local spot costs around €5–7. In a city 44% cheaper than Frankfurt overall, you can eat and drink well every day for under €25. The gap becomes most obvious when you sit down at a neighbourhood pojangmacha and realise you've ordered two dishes and a beer for what a coffee costs on Zeil.

☀️ The weather

June in Frankfurt is mild and overcast — 17–22°C, with frequent grey spells and unreliable sunshine. Seoul in early June is warmer and brighter: 20–26°C with long daylight hours and low humidity. From late June onward, the monsoon season (jangma) arrives, bringing heavy rain and rising humidity ahead of the July heat. If your dates fall early in the month, you get the best of it. Later departures mean packing a light rain layer and planning around afternoon downpours. The city handles them without breaking stride.

🏨 Where to stay

Seoul has strong options at every price point, concentrated around Myeongdong, Hongdae and Gangnam.

Hotel28 Myeongdong — 8.3/10 · From €80/night A design-forward budget hotel in the heart of Myeongdong, one of Seoul's most walkable districts. Good value, well-connected and popular with first-time visitors.

Voco Seoul Myeongdong by IHG — 8.7/10 · From €130/night Sleek mid-range hotel in Myeongdong with modern rooms, strong service and everything within easy walking distance. The right base for a first trip to Seoul.

Four Seasons Hotel Seoul — 9.2/10 · From €380/night One of the best luxury hotels in East Asia. Exceptional service, spectacular city views and a location between Gyeongbokgung Palace and Gwanghwamun Square.

🎯 What to do

Seoul moves fast but rewards slow exploration.

Gyeongbokgung Palace — The grandest of Seoul's five royal palaces, built in 1395. Arrive at opening time for the changing of the guard and walk the grounds before the crowds arrive.

Bukchon Hanok Village — A hillside neighbourhood of restored traditional Korean houses between two royal palaces. Come in the morning, when the alleyways are quiet enough to hear your footsteps.

Gwangjang Market — Seoul's oldest covered market, open since 1905. Bindaetteok, raw beef yukhoe and glass noodles from vendors who have been running the same stalls for decades.

DMZ day trip — The Korean Demilitarised Zone is 50 kilometres from central Seoul. One of the strangest and most charged places you can visit in the world. Guided day tours run daily and take around eight hours.

🗺️ Where to go from here

Seoul is the best-connected city in the country. Use it as a launchpad.

Jeju Island — A one-hour domestic flight from Gimpo Airport. Volcanic landscape, black sand beaches and a slower pace than the mainland. The Seoul–Jeju route is the busiest air route in the world.

Busan — 2.5 hours south on the KTX high-speed train from Seoul Station. Seafood markets, coastal cliffs and Gamcheon Culture Village.

Gyeongju — A short ride from Busan by local train. The former capital of the Silla Kingdom, with royal burial mounds and ancient temples, and almost no other foreign tourists.

Jeonju — Two hours southwest of Seoul by KTX. The birthplace of bibimbap, a walled hanok village and some of the best traditional Korean food in the country.

Tway does not operate this route year-round at this price. The dates above are live. Book now, figure out the itinerary later.
