A tagine and mint tea for less than a pint back home.

💰 How far does your money go?

A full tagine at a local spot runs 70–120 MAD, around €7–€11, less than a pint in Dublin. A glass of Moroccan mint tea is closer to €1, and a fresh orange juice from a street stall is about the same. Two streets back from the main squares, prices drop another 20–30%.

☀️ The Weather

Rabat in September sits around 27°C, dropping to a comfortable 22–23°C by late October, with the Atlantic keeping the air fresh rather than sticky. Evenings cool off nicely for walks along the Bouregreg river.

🏨 Where to Stay

From a simple city-centre base to river views with a spa attached.

Ibis Rabat Centre Ville — 7.9/10 · From €45/night Simple, reliable and walking distance from the medina, built for a short city break on a budget.

Onomo Hotel Rabat — 8.5/10 · From €75/night Modern rooms near the train station, an easy base for exploring on foot.

Fairmont La Marina Rabat Salé — 9.3/10 · From €220/night Riverfront views and a full spa, for the trip where you want to be looked after.

🎯 What to Do

A capital city that moves at its own pace, away from the souk crowds.

Kasbah of the Udayas — A blue-and-white fortress quarter overlooking the Atlantic, best wandered in the early morning light.

Hassan Tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V — Rabat's landmark unfinished minaret, free to visit and hard to miss.

Rabat medina — Smaller and calmer than Marrakech's, good for spices, leather and mint tea without the hustle.

Chellah necropolis — Roman ruins turned Merinid burial ground, now home to storks nesting on the old walls.

🗺️ Where to Go From Here

Rabat makes an easy base for the rest of northern Morocco.

Chefchaouen — Morocco's blue-washed mountain town, about 4 hours away by bus or car.

Casablanca — Morocco's largest city, under an hour away by train, home to the Hassan II Mosque.

Fes — The old imperial capital and its maze-like medina, roughly 2.5 hours by train.

€40 for a non-stop flight to Morocco won't last long. Pick a date and book it.
