Vietnam has never been this reachable from Italy. Three airports, one destination, fares that barely clear €400 return.
China Eastern and Air China are running return fares to Hanoi from €412, with departures from Milan, Venice and Rome across autumn and early winter 2026.

💰 How far does your money go?
A bowl of pho costs about €1.50. A glass of fresh bia hoi, brewed daily on the corner, is under €0.40. A full local restaurant meal comes in at €3–€6, less than a coffee and cornetto back in Milan.
☀️ The Weather
Hanoi in September still holds onto summer, with highs around 31°C and real humidity. By October it eases to a much gentler 22–28°C. November brings dry, mild days around 18–24°C, and by December the city settles into a cool 15–18°C, jacket weather by Hanoi standards.
🏨 Where to Stay
Hanoi's Old Quarter puts everything within walking distance, whatever the budget.
Hanoi Concert Hotel — 8.7/10 · From €18/night Small, well-run and right in the Old Quarter, ideal for anyone who just needs a clean base between street food stops.
La Siesta Hotel & Spa Trendy — 9.0/10 · From €65/night A rooftop pool and proper spa a few minutes from Hoan Kiem Lake, the sweet spot between comfort and price.
Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi — 9.3/10 · From €220/night Colonial-era grandeur in the heart of the city, the kind of stay worth building the whole trip around.
🎯 What to Do
Hanoi moves fast on the ground and slow over a coffee, often within the same hour.
Cycle around West Lake — Quiet lanes, lakeside temples and some of the best banh mi carts in the city.
Visit the Temple of Literature — Vietnam's first national university, still standing after nearly 1,000 years.
Join a street food crawl through the Old Quarter — Bun cha, egg coffee and bia hoi, all within a few blocks.
Watch a water puppet show — A centuries-old art form performed on water, unique to the Red River Delta.
🗺️ Where to Go From Here
Hanoi is the easiest launchpad into northern Vietnam's biggest landscapes.
Ha Long Bay — Limestone karsts rising out of turquoise water, about 2.5 hours away by bus or private transfer.
Ninh Binh — Often called "Halong Bay on land," a boat ride through rice paddies and karst caves roughly 2 hours south.
Sapa — Terraced rice fields and mountain trekking in the far north, reachable by overnight train or a 5-hour bus ride.
Cat Ba Island — Ha Long Bay's biggest island, with beaches, national park trails and a slower pace, about 3.5 hours by bus and ferry.
Fares like this out of three Italian airports at once don't last. Check your dates and lock it in before winter prices climb.
